Glasgow Guide
Glasgow is much more than a short city break destination
An award winning, world-class tourist destination, Glasgow is
one of the liveliest and most cosmopolitan destinations in
Europe.
Reborn as a city of style and vitality set against a backdrop of
outstanding Victorian architecture, Glasgow boasts world famous art
collections, the best shopping outside London (The Style Mile), and
the most vibrant and most exciting nightlife in Scotland.
Spend the day in the splendour of Scotland's best known
architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh, whose style adorns many unique
attractions throughout the city. Spend the nights exploring the
bustling bars, restaurants, clubs, theatres and lively street
scenes including the fashionable Merchant City and Byres Road
districts.
2011 sees the launch of the newest addition to Glasgow’s much
talked about Clyde Waterfront. The Zaha Hadid designed Scottish
Transport Museum has cost £74m and is an iconic building sure to
impress all ages.
Why not catch a concert in the “Armadillo”? This purpose built
auditorium plays host to numerous global Megastars from the music
world and it will soon be joined by another beautiful building in
the form of the Norman Foster designed Scottish National Arena. It
is all part of the ever expanding cultural hub that makes up the
Clyde waterfront.
Then at the end of a long day head back to the Grand Central
Hotel, centrally located so it's never far away, and sleep well in
your luxury room.
